What changes after this module

Managers redesign their team around AI (which tasks shift, what freed-up people do), adopt enablement-based metrics that actually predict value, and launch a credible AI champion network, leaving with a 90-day team adoption plan.

Who should attend

Middle managers. Beginner: no AI experience needed.

Programme

This agenda is indicative. Content, sequencing, and examples are adapted to your team's context, tools, and objectives.

Before you start

  • Your team’s org chart and role descriptions
  • Current team KPIs or objectives
  • Notes on who is enthusiastic vs sceptical about AI
  • E1 or equivalent baseline
Day 19:00–10:30Team redesign for AI: Which tasks shift to AI, and the harder question: what your freed-up people do instead (higher-judgment, customer-facing, coaching work)A caution from UC Berkeley research: freed-up time silently refills with more work unless you redesign roles deliberatelyThis is rewiring roles, not just adding a tool.
Hands-onEach manager rewrites one role on their team for an AI-augmented world: the tasks AI takes, the new higher-value responsibilities, and the updated job description.
10:30–10:45 · ☕ Coffee break
Day 110:45–12:30Measuring an AI-augmented team: Why usage counts don’t predict value and behavioural metrics doNew manager KPIs: adoption-facilitation / enablement scores, process-change rate, reduction in legacy-process use, and: critically: application, not just weekly loginsSHRM finds 70% of talent leaders expect AI to feature in performance conversations; the goal is to coach, not to police.
Hands-onManagers design a one-page team scorecard (two adoption metrics, two application/behaviour metrics, one business-outcome metric) and decide how each is discussed in 1:1s without becoming surveillance.
12:30–13:30 · 🍽 Lunch break
Day 113:30–15:30The AI champion network: The single most effective adoption lever: trusted peers, not trainers (Deloitte finds AI champions raise tool usage by ~65%)Selecting naturally influential mid-level people distributed across the team, the four components every programme needs (selection, training, activation, measurement), and protection: 10–20% of time, capped, with explicit air coverCiti (4,000+ peer “Accelerators”) and PwC as scale examples.
Hands-onEach manager selects 1–2 candidate champions for their team, defines their remit and protected time, and drafts the activation rhythm (weekly demo, office hours, shared prompt library).
15:30–15:45 · ☕ Coffee break
Day 115:45–17:00Day 1 synthesis: Consolidating the role redesigns, the scorecard, and champion picksSurfacing where resistance will concentrate.
Hands-onManagers complete a resistance map of their team (who, why, how strong) as the input for Day 2.
Day 29:00–10:30Working with resistance: Resistance is a signal, not a defectThe self-preservation dynamic: people (and managers) protecting a role AI is changing: and quiet disengagementAddressing job-security fear openly (the honest WIIFM)ADKAR as a person-by-person map.
Hands-onRole-play clinic: managers practise the toughest conversation on their resistance map with a peer playing the resister, then swap and debrief what shifted the response.
10:30–10:45 · ☕ Coffee break
Day 210:45–12:30Workshop: 90-day team adoption plan: Assembling the pieces into a plan: milestones, the champion rhythm, the scorecard, and escalation paths.
Hands-onEach manager builds a 90-day team AI adoption plan on a one-page canvas: milestones, metrics, champion activities, and the first three conversations.
12:30–13:30 · 🍽 Lunch break
Day 213:30–15:30Communicating the change: How to announce AI changes without triggering fearFraming AI as augmentation and career growth, not a headcount threatWorks-council / union considerations in a European context.
Hands-onManagers draft and deliver a 3-minute “town hall” message in groups of four or five (the group plays their team), then get structured feedback on tone, honesty, and the WIIFM.
15:30–15:45 · ☕ Coffee break
Day 215:45–17:00Peer review & commitments: Pressure-testing plans and locking commitments.
Hands-onEach manager presents their 90-day plan in trios for peer challenge and makes a 30-day commitment with a named check-in partner.
